Educating recently diagnosed men and their families about prostate cancer
This project involved end-to-end development of a new suite of audience-specific prostate cancer educational resources, including project management, copy writing, selecting and managing a medical illustrator, building a photo library, managing the expert advisory panel review and approval process, and managing design and production.
The first of the new resources, the revised Localised Prostate Cancer Pack for men who have been newly diagnosed with localised disease, was launched in September 2013. The pack comprises four booklets covering diagnosis, treatment, side effects and wellbeing.
The other resources in the suite, including packs for men with advanced prostate cancer, partners and carers, gay and bisexual men, and younger men, were launched in 2014. The project also included translating key PCFA resources into five languages - Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Italian and Vietnamese and a flip chart for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.
